| Walter Söllner | ||
| Walter Söllner, currently on a six-month sabbatical leave, is a chief research geophysicist with Petroleum Geo-Services’ Technology group, working in Integrated Geoscience & Engineering Projects. He received his PhD in geophysics from the Technical University of Clausthal in Germany. Before joing PGS, Walter worked as a research scientist in the applied reflection seismic group of Dr. Peter Hubral at the University of Karlsruhe and as a visiting professor at the Federal University of Para (Brazil). His research interests are in seismic imaging and signal processing, particularly in development of data driven imaging tools and development of processing tools for dual-sensor towed streamer data. As a visiting scholar at CWP, Walter is now working on parameter estimation and enhanced time imaging for general anisotropic media. | ![]() |

| Alexandre Araman | ||
Alexandre Araman working for Total E & P. He is visiting CWP for three semesters. Alexandrereceived his Master of Engineering from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications, France. In 2007, he received a MSc in Communication and Signal Processing from Imperial College, London. His thesis in signal processing is entitled, “Non-stationary signal processing based on hidden Markov Chains,” in which he describes the implementation of endomorphic modeling for signal prediction. Other projects during his academic career dealt with imaging and speech processing and digital communication. At Total E&P, Alexandre works in the seismic processing department where his focus is on the Virtual Source Method. Alexandre has lived and studied in many countries aroudn the world and he is fluent in French, Russian, Arabic and English.

| Lennart de Groot | ||
| Lennart de Groot earned his BSc in Earth Sciences from Utrecht University, where he performed research on paleomagnetism, writing the thesis, “Measuring the anisotropy of isothermal remanent magnetization in red bed sediments.” Lennart has continued at Utrecht to pursue his master’s degree. His project, an extension of his bachelor research, is on the inclination error correction of magnetic vectors in red beds. He presented the results of this project at the December 2007 AGU meeting. This is also the topic of a paper he is co-authoring with Prof. Ken Kodama, Lehigh University and Prof. Cor Langereis, Utrecht University. As part of his master’s program, Lennart is a visiting scholar for six-months at CWP working on the Virtual Real Source method with Jyoti Behura, under the supervision of Prof. Roel Snieder. | ![]() |
