CWP researchers Eileen Martin, Aaron Girard and Jeff Shragge were recently awarded two new GPUs through NVIDIA’s Academic Grant Program in support of their proposal, “Resilient Infrastructure Made Possible by Seismic Data at the Edge.” These researchers and their students have been collecting large-scale fiber-optic distributed acoustic sensing datasets as part of integrated geophysical studies of roads and buildings in permafrost regions, aging dams in water-stressed areas, and earthquake hazard mapping. The new RTX 6000 Ada GPUs will be used to support edge computing, which will enable rapid feedback for decision-making, reduced data management challenges, and studies in remote locations.
