CWP research associate, Shihao Yuan, recently published a study on the use of single station 6C seismometers to rapidly track localized vibration sources such as vehicles. CWP faculty member Eileen Martin was also involved. The figure below shows an example of how rotational and translational motion can be used to accurately estimate the backazimuth of vehicles driving in the vicinity of the sensor location.
