Congratulations to Dr. Can Oren on successfully defending his PhD thesis. In his 3.33 years at Mines, Can has pushed the boundaries on 3D elastic microseismic imaging and inversion, and has successfully demonstrated the elastic inversion approach on a DAS 3D VSP data set acquired on the Alaska North Slope. Can published three papers as first author, has another first-author manuscript under review, and contributed to fifth submission in collaboration with Mines and USGS colleagues. Finally, Can has been selected as an “Outstanding Reviewer for 2021” by the Royal Astronomical Society for his review contributions to the journal Geophysical Journal International.
